Fruit and meat casserole type dish
Equipment

- Large frying pan
- Large roasting dish

Ingredients
- 2 slices bread
- water
- 2 large white onions
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1 tsp garlic paste (or 3 crushed cloves)
- 800-1.2kg mince beef
- 2 tbsp madras curry paste
- 2 tsp mixed herbs
- 4 cloves
- 2 tbsp mango chutney
- 3 tbsp sultanas
- 4-5 bay leaves
- 300ml milk
- 2 large eggs
Preparation
- Heat oven to around 170C
- put the 2 slices of bread in a dish of water to soak
- fry the onions in the oil for approx 10 mins until soft
- Add garlic and mince and break the mince up well
- Add the curry paste, churney, herbs, spices, sultanas and salt and pepper
- Stir in well, reduce temperature, simmer for 10 mins
- drain the water from the bread, and beat the mushy bread into the mixture
- Add the bay leaves to the mixture
- Pour the mixture into a large roasting dish, at least 5cm deep, press down and smooth out carefully
- Beat the 2 eggs, and mix with the milk and salt and pepper
- pour the egg-milk mix carefully over the top of the mince layer, it should just cover the surface
- Bake for approx 40 minutes until the surface is beginning to brown
